Mercedes is planning with The Vision EQ S an electrical alternative to the S-Class Soon there could also be a S-class with power drive. What this might look like in practice is shown by Daimler at the IAA. Already so much: Inside, things are changing.
Vision EQ S from Mercedes
Mercedes is planning an electrical alternative to the S-Class, as a top model for the EQ family. The Vision EQ S study offers a first look at the IAA in Frankfurt.
The five-meter-long luxury liner, which will be on the road within two years, sets itself apart from conventional saloons such as the S-Class, primarily due to its unusually flowing shape and its all-round lighting concept. Inside, too, Mercedes wants to break new ground with striking light worlds and a new display and operating concept on large, organic displays, according to the manufacturer.
Up to 700 kilometers of electric range
By contrast, the design and drive of the platform, which was developed exclusively for e-mobility, with one motor on each axle and the battery in the bottom plate in between, are almost conventional. For the fair model, the Swabians speak of a battery capacity of about 100 kWh, which should enable a range of up to 700 kilometers.
Thanks to a theoretical 350 kW charge, the battery is 80 percent full again in less than 20 minutes. The two engines together make 350 kW / 476 hp and accelerate the Mercedes Vision EQ S with up to 760 Newton meters in less than 4.5 seconds from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour. The top speed will be more than 200 km / h.
