Volkswagen has a new logo: On Monday night, the car manufacturer unveiled its revamped VW symbol at its brand tower in Wolfsburg. Without the previous 3D effect, but with a below not tied to the circle “W”, the logo should appear lighter than before.

The simpler design is part of a comprehensive reorientation of the brand strategy that aims to make Volkswagen more authentic and environmentally friendly. Around the time of the unveiling in Wolfsburg, the new VW logo was also shown to the public for the first time at the presentation of the all-electric model ID.3 at the IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt.

“We believe we have created an icon,” Jochen Sengpiehl, head of marketing at the Volkswagen core brand VW Passenger Cars, had already announced at the end of August. The new brand strategy also includes a sound logo, which should be used instead of an advertising slogan. As a new brand voice, the German dubbing voice of Scarlett Johansson, Luise Helm, was engaged.
