South Africa wants to jump on the boat to the green side by introducing EVs to the country. But before this can happen, they have decided that a three year test will have to be conducted by the South African electric company named Eskom,to see if the power grid would be able to manage a great number of EVs being plugged in for charging.
Eskom is using 10 Nissan Leafs,to conduct the test ,which is very important seeing as they already suffer from rolling black outs. So with the extreme load the EVs would put on the grid, the problem would only get worst .
Tests began in March and hopefully by the end of the three years, the results will rule in favour of EVs .The country is making big efforts to try and reduce emissions, and EVs will aid in this effort.
