McLaren P1 - Nurburgring Nordschleife 2013

Geared to stack up against the likes of Ferrari’s F12 and Lambo’s Aventador LP 700-4, McLaren is reportedly in the works with a new supercar which would fill the void between its 12C and the P1. Codenamed as the P15, the existence of the new supercar has been confirmed to publication Autocar by McLaren Automotive boss Mike Flewitt, who is reported to have said that the P15 will feature carbon fiber monocoque chassis and mid-mounted twin-turbo V-8. Also hinted by Flewitt on the Autocar interview is a successor to the successful P1, allegedly explaining that the next P1 will only arrive after battery and electric drive systems have taken significant leaps forward. Automaker Nissan, together with its motorsport partner NISMO revealed the engine codenamed ‘DIG-T R’ which will be featured on its 2013 ZEOD RC electrified race car Garage 56 experimental entry that competes in this year’s 24 Hours of Lemans next week. Turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 400 horsepower output, the engine only weighs an astounding 88 pounds, which means any adult could be capable of carrying it, just like NISMO head Shoichi Miyatani pictured above.
