Counting down to FIA Formula E action with Renault

With less than five months to go before the FIA Formula E Championship kicks off in Beijing, China, on September 13, the competition’s key players – including Renault, an official technical partner of FEH and Spark Racing Technology – have already started the countdown to the beginning of the new series.

This week saw two development Spark-Renault SRT-01 Es spend three days being tested at a circuit in Issoire, near Clermont-Ferrand, France, in the hands of Emmanuel Collard, with a view to finalising the specification of the Michelin tyres that will feature during the championship’s inaugural season. Honda Brings Gamer’s Custom 2014 Civic Si Coupe to Life at Chicago Auto Show

Honda is bringing to life a custom 2014 Civic Si Coupe, based on the winning entry from the Forza Motorsport Civic Si Design Contest, a tie-up with the hottest racing franchise on Xbox One – Forza Motorsport. The winning entry, which will be unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show 2014 on February 7, was created by Forza Motorsport gamer Tiffany Labedz and was chosen as the top design by more than 17,000 members of the Forza Motorsport community.  This one-of-a-kind Civic is the first vehicle to feature a design from the Forza Motorsport community. Attendees of the Chicago Auto Show will also get the chance to be the first to race the 2014 Civic Si Coupe in Forza Motorsport 5 on Xbox One demo stations in the Honda booth.

Automaker Nissan, together with its motorsport partner NISMO revealed the engine codenamed ‘DIG-T R’ which will be featured on its 2013 ZEOD RC electrified race car Garage 56 experimental entry that competes in this year’s 24 Hours of Lemans next week. Turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 400 horsepower output, the engine only weighs an astounding 88 pounds, which means any adult could be capable of carrying it, just like NISMO head Shoichi Miyatani pictured above.

Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team today unveiled the F1 W05, its new car for the 2014 Formula One season, at the Circuito de Jerez in southern Spain. Designed from the ground up as an integrated project between the Mercedes-Benz teams based at Brackley and Brixworth, this car marks a milestone as Mercedes Benz celebrates 120 years in Motorsport and the 80th birthday of its Silver Arrowa. Ahead of the first morning of official winter testing, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton took the wraps off the first all-new Silver Arrow to hit the track since 1954. Read more

Honda NSX Prototype Excites Race Fans at Mid-Ohio Demonstration Lap

The Honda NSX prototype lapped the 2.4-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio today, just prior to the running of the Honda Indy 200, showcasing the steady progress being made toward the planned 2015 launch of Honda’s next-generation, mid-engine supercar.
