In addition, a new man will take over the management of the group at the Annual General Meeting in Berlin: Ola Källenius, formerly head of development, will replace Dieter Zetsche, the long-running chairman of Daimler. French automaker Peugeot is set to unveil an all-new concept car, which it claims is from the same lineage as its Onyx supercar concept, at this year’s Beijing Autoshow (also known as Auto China 2014, April 20 to 29). McLaren P1 - Nurburgring Nordschleife 2013

Geared to stack up against the likes of Ferrari’s F12 and Lambo’s Aventador LP 700-4, McLaren is reportedly in the works with a new supercar which would fill the void between its 12C and the P1. Codenamed as the P15, the existence of the new supercar has been confirmed to publication Autocar by McLaren Automotive boss Mike Flewitt, who is reported to have said that the P15 will feature carbon fiber monocoque chassis and mid-mounted twin-turbo V-8. Also hinted by Flewitt on the Autocar interview is a successor to the successful P1, allegedly explaining that the next P1 will only arrive after battery and electric drive systems have taken significant leaps forward. Nissan Announces U.S. Pricing for 2015 GT-R

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced U.S. pricing for the 2015 Nissan GT-R Premium, GT-R Black Edition and GT-R Track Edition*, which have received a number of important performance, exterior and interior enhancements for the 2015 model year. The changes are designed to give GT-R a more refined look and feel without sacrificing one bit of its legendary performance.

The GT-R Premium and GT-R Black Edition grades are on sale now at Nissan dealers nationwide. A forecast of market analyst IHS Automotive for auto motor und sport magazine reports that almost all German car manufacturers can look forward to growth in sales in the year 2014.

BMW Motorrad shows two-digit growth in July 2013 and attains record sales level. Deliveries as of July 9.9 % above previous year.

From January 2013 to July inclusive, BMW Motorrad delivered a total of 76,182 (prev. yr: 69,329 units) motorcycles and maxi-scooters to customers, 9.9 % more than in the previous year. Of these, 11,241 (prev. yr: 10,140 units) vehicles were delivered in the month of July, a rise of 10.9% and the best result ever recorded in a July month. Read more

BMW under Pressure: Price cuts in Premium Class

The recession in southern Europe has dampened BMW’s dynamism and put pressure on prices. According to concern head Norbert Reithofer in an interview with a German newspaper, large cuts in prices were “not appropriate” in the premium automobile sector. But the competition was “very intense, so that we cannot ignore market development.”

He added that BMW was trying to avoid price reductions as far as possible yet still maintain its market share. He admitted that it would be “very expensive to regain lost market share.” Read more
