Opel Plans to Mass Produce Adam Convertible

Opel plans to expand its successful model Adam and bring into the market a convertible version with a soft top that can be opened electronically and folds on the rear edge. The new Adam will feature accented wheel arches, exhaust center type, boomerang-shaped turn signals and 18-inch wheels.

“We want to build Opel cars that ordinary people can afford,” said Opel chief Karl Thomas Neumann, adding that it wants to recover from the lost market share with trendy and affordable cars. Read more

Opel's Monza Concept Car to be shown off at the Frankfurt Motor Show #Video

At the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, Opel is expected to show off the Monza concept. Nothing is certain yet but we’re hopeful that we’ll see what this new model is all about.

According to Opel, the concept car offers “efficiency and connectivity”. I’m guessing it will be green and more hi-tech complete with different kinds of connectivity. Features include a new infotainmant system and some “”ground-breaking powertrain solution” as described by Opel/Vauxhall CEO arl-Thomas Neumann. Read more

While GM is not willing to let go of Opel, the company will have to ring in more job cuts and pension losses in the coming years since Opel is the biggest contributor to the company’s losses in Europe. Considering GM made more money in the past one year as a whole, the people looking forward to GM’s reports for the last quarter are pretty hopeful this trend will continue.

Okay so while the interiors of the Opel Ampera might look strikingly similar to the Chevy Volt, Europeans insist that the Opel Ampera has way more oomph and attractiveness potential. They say that the skin of the Ampera is way more sensual than the Volt. As a result, while GM had targeted 8000 production units to start with, the actual number might need to be much higher, and hence the targets have been raised to 10,000 to 15,000 units. Paid reservations are already at 6000 units. But then again, those reservations are nothing more than $212 per unit. Those need not necessarily mean that the those will be purchased, however going by the estimates GM definitely is all geared to be better prepared to meet this demand than it was when it had the Volt. The car is supposed to be the ushering in of a new style and statement for the brand, but at the same time is expected to be a more upscale Opel model.

 

Opel Ampera

After speaking to potential customers awhile back and creating a demand, General Motors has decided on 10,00 Opel and Vauxhall Amperas for 2012 sales in Europe. Aside from that, it is said that the Opel will get 6,000 Amperas from GM’s 60,000 and Vauxhall will get 4,000 to sell. This summarizes the distribution of the 10,000 Amperas for Europe. Read more

According to Europe’s leading car magazine Auto Motor Sport, some Car Paparazzi’s just caught a test version, a so called Erlkoenig, of the latest Opel Vectra on a test drive. AMS speculates that the final model of the newest addition to the Opel mid-size family could be presented during the 2008 car show “Autosalon” in Geneva, Switzerland.
