The Korean manufacturer sends the small car Hyundai i10 in the third round. He bets on connectivity, flottier optics and a top model with at least 100 hp.
Hyundai i10 will start from 10 990 euro
The smallest car model from Hyundai is growing a bit. Visitors to the IAA (public days: 12 to 22 September), where the South Korean manufacturer is exhibiting the third generation of the i10, can convince themselves of this. Compared to its predecessor, the model is two inches wider, the wheelbase measures four inches more. As a result, the space in the interior was better, said Hyundai. At prices starting from 10 990 euro the i10 should come on the market in January 2020.
In terms of height, however, the European-based development team made the car shrink somewhat. It lowered the roof by two centimeters, which makes the car look more dynamic. In addition, the developers redesigned the front end together with the now larger grill. For better visibility, a narrower C-pillar should provide, for a better access to the unchanged 252 liter boot a slightly lowered sill.
Option on many assistants
The connectivity has also improved the Koreans, according to own information. A touch-sensitive 8-inch display, smartphone integration and a telematics system with app control are available as well as driver assistance systems for comfort and safety. These help, for example, when tracking or hide the headlights automatically. A camera-based front collision detector also detects pedestrians.
Two gasoline engines are ready for launch: a three-cylinder engine with 49 kW / 67 hp and a four-cylinder engine with 64 kW / 84 hp. Both engines can be coupled with manual or automated five-speed manual transmission. However, the top engine with 74 kW / 100 hp and 172 Newton meters (Nm) of torque is reserved for the following sports model i10 N Line.
