BMW X3 M: More Power for the mid-size SUV

BMW X3 M: More Power

With the BMW X3 M (2019), BMW M GmbH is expanding its program with an extremely sporty mid-size SUV. The new six-cylinder engine in the sporty SUV makes 480 hp, in the X3 M Competition, the unit is even stronger.

The Munich-based carmaker finally proves its sporting spirit and with the BMW X3 M (2019) brings the most dynamic version of the in-house mid-range SUV. The first two generations of the bestseller had to make do without such a high-performance top version from the House of M still.

The reason for the expanded model strategy lies in the unabated growth of the SUV segment, which has been on the rise worldwide for years. New power SUVs like the X3 M will give the off-roaders even more momentum, which in this case is quite literally to understand. Under the bonnet of the power SUV, BMW is installing a new inline six-cylinder engine with TwinPower turbo technology (two turbochargers, variable valve lift control, variable timing) and high-revving characteristics. From 3.0 liters displacement, the unit mobilizes 480 hp and a maximum torque of 600 Nm.

For the parallel to the market launch of the BMW X3 M (2019) going competition model, the performance was even increased by another 30 hp to 510 hp. Power transmission is provided by an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive technology “M xDrive” shares the potent middle-class SUV with the BMW M5. Together with an active M-differential on the rear axle, the driving behavior is to be raised to a level unimagined for the segment.

Measures such as the precision strut made of CFRP known from the BMW M4, which is installed in the engine compartment and ensures increased rigidity, underline the driving dynamics ambitions of Bavaria. The sprint from zero to 100 completed the BMW X3 M (2019) in 4.2 seconds, the competition variant is 0.1 seconds faster.
