Berlin’s Tempelhof field is to be the location of the new Formula E racing series from 2015. According to information in the nationwide German news magazine, Der Spiegel, the organizers of the racing series have reached agreement with the Berlin city senate.
The racing track is to be built in front of the airport terminal building.
Temporary stands will accommodate 25-30,000 spectators. The series, which will have ten locations across the world has been brought into life by FIA, and is the preserve of electronically powered racing cars. Whether the cars can match the unmistakeable howling noise of their gasoline-powered rivals remains to be seen…
