Toyota Prius hits 3-millionth unit milestone

Toyota must be very proud to hit the 3 millionth Prius unit sale mark. Yes, the Japanese automakers has finally sold 3 million Prius the past sixteen years. Three generations were introduced already but the Prius still continues to be a bestseller.

The second-gen Prius sold 1.2 million while the third-generation sold 1.7 million units. This only proves that electric vehicles have a bright future. Toyota isn’t the only one who’s offering green cars to the masses but it’s one of the more successful companies.

Because Toyota can do good on their green efforts, the company is investing $7.9 billion on R&D for new similar products and platforms.
