It is not very often that we get to see some of our favorite cars resurrected and put back on the market. A great example being the Nissan GT-R. After the last Nissan Skyline GT-R34 rolled out the factory in the year 2002, it was like a big hole was left in the world of tuners that nothing could fill. At least that is until Nissan in 2008 brought back the GT-R line with the GT-R 35 that finally, was also made available to US customers. It was a huzzah for the return of a line of cars dubbed ‘Godzilla’.
Now the Audi A3 is, well, nowhere near close to the same league as the beastly supercar. But it has been definitely remodeled for the green car lover that can appreciate the style this car has to offer. Dubbed the A3 e-tron, this car is a 204-horsepower plug-in hybrid that can go for all of 31 miles using only its electric mode. At the heart of the car is a 1.4 TFSI engine that is mated to an electric motor for a total output of 204 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. Combine that with a six speed S-tronic transmission. The driver has the option of using any of the two power plants, being the motor or the engine, or they can use both at the same time. The car has pretty good acceleration, going from 0 to 62 mph in 7.6 seconds. In electric mode the max speed is 80 mph and the mileage is impressive. In total, according to Audi, between the engine and the electric motor the A3 has a total mpg rating of 156.81.
While it may not get the red carpet treatment like some other models that have come back fresh from the halt of production, it will however be on show at the Geneva Auto Show in March. No real confirmation for price so far but surely it shall be quite reasonable.
