BYD strikes gold in the electric vehicles market in Shenzhen, China!

In. an era when automakers are striving hard to close deals on electric vehicles which seem to be the future of the automobiles world, BYD Auto seems to have struck quite a deal. They have just signed a 200 eBUS-12 electric buses and 300 battery-powered e6 crossovers contract with the Chinese city of Shenzhen.

That’s quite a contract, isn’t it? The vehicles will be primarily used during Universiade 2011, an international sport festival held in mid-August. And if you are wondering what happens to these masterpieces after the event, they will become part of Shenzhen’s public transport system, that has been served by BYD Auto for over a year now. When fully charged, both the eBUS-12 and the e6 can supposedly go up to 300 kilometers (186.4 miles) under optimal conditions.
